 Laboratory Recognition

All equipment suppliers that participate in P25 CAP must use recognized laboratories to conduct performance, conformance, and interoperability tests on their products. Recognition is granted to competent laboratories following a rigorous on-site assessment in which trained Laboratory Assessment Teams evaluate the laboratory for technical competence and quality system management. This evaluation process ensures that tests are conducted correctly and the results are reliable.

A Scope of Recognition is granted to each laboratory that details which tests it is capable of performing. A DHS-approved laboratory is authorized to produce summary and detail test reports for P25 equipment. At minimum the laboratory will be reevaluated every three years. A laboratory may wish to increase or decrease their Scope of Recognition at any time.
