NPSTC Channel Naming Report

In response to requests from a number of public safety organizations that NPSTC reexamine the channel naming recommendations of the National Coordination Committee, the NPSTC Governing Board established the Common Naming Task Group at its November 2006 meeting to establish consensus on a set of common names for channels designated for interoperability use by the FCC.

The task group solicited input from December 2006 - January 2007, and held a public forum in conjunction with the February 2007 quarterly NPSTC meetings in Orlando, FL.  As a result, the Revised Common Naming Standard was developed.  Comments on this proposed format were accepted through May 20, 2007.

The task group then developed the final draft recommendation for the NPSTC Governing Board to review and approve at the quarterly meeting on June 13, 2007. The NPSTC Governing Board approved the final recommendations and the NPSTC Channel Naming Report has been released.
